Hampshire Sets Overnight Curfew Wednesday

As of Thursday morning, a curfew has not been set for Thursday night, village officials said.

HAMPSHIRE, IL — The village of Hampshire enacted an overnight curfew on Wednesday night. The curfew was in effect starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday through 6 a.m. on Thursday.

As of Thursday morning, village officials the curfew was just meant for Wednesday evening but if that changes, the village do its best to notify the community as soon as possible, Mike Reid, Hampshire village trustee, told Patch in an e-mail response.

The curfew was enacted after village officials received "credible evidence and advice" from the Kane County Sheriff's Office and the Illinois State Police, Reid said. He did not elaborate on what that evidence or advice entailed.

The Wednesday nigth curfew did not impact necessary, essential, or emergency travel, according to an update from police.
