New Movie To Start Filming In Downtown Elgin
Filming for a comedy and drama, "For Prophet" begins Wednesday, June 5 in downtown Elgin, according to a report.
ELGIN, IL — Beginning Wednesday, a movie written by an Elk Grove Village man will come to life in downtown Elgin. Mark Iverson, who will be making his directorial debut this week, said he chose downtown Elgin as the filming location for his movie, "For Prophet," a feature-length comedy and drama, also known as a "dramady," according to the Daily Herald. Aside from a few scenes in Wheaton, filming will take place June 5 through June 26 in downtown Elgin, including a scheduled June 20 filming of a protest that will be staged across from the Elgin Tower Building, the news report said.
Production manager Timothy Voelker told the Daily Herald more than 50 people make up the cast and crew of "For Prophet," a film centered on the story of small-town business owner Damon Pender, who tries saving a homeless shelter from closing while "in a tug-of-war between an angel and a demon." Iverson said he learned about the city's efforts to address the downtown presence of homeless people after he began scouting Elgin as a possible filming location, according to the Daily Herald.
