Plan for Traffic Delays Tuesday as Wall That Heals Comes to Area
The replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is headed to West Dundee this week, which will be its only stop in the Chicago area this year.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The Wall That Heals, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., will be coming to the area and local residents should expect delays during rush on Tuesday as a motorcade transporting the memorial heads through area towns. The Wall That Heals will leave Woodstock Harley Davidson, 2235 S. Eastwood Drive, at 3:50 p.m. and is expected to arrive at Randall Oaks Park at 750 Randall Road in West Dundee, where it will be on display July 4 to July 7, by 5 p.m. The motorcade and memorial will follow this route:
- Start at Woodstock Harley Davidson and take a left on IL 47 southbound
- IL 47 southbound at IL 176
- Continue southbound on IL 47 at Reed Rd
- Left on Algonquin Road and continue through Huntley, Lake in the Hills and Algonquin
- Right on Route 25 in Barrington Hills and continue into Carpentersville
- Right on Route 72 in East Dundee and continue through West Dundee and Sleepy Hollow
- Right on Randall Road
- Left at Randall Oaks Park
The timing of the motorcade are approximate and dependent on the weather. So, motorists should expect delays throughout the afternoon, and possibly evening hours, along many busy thoroughfares throughout the area, according to local authorities.
"Please drive safely and use extra caution when traveling near the aforementioned areas," according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department. "It is anticipated that there will be a large number of motorcycles participating in this motorcade."

The mobile education center will come along the the memorial and the site will be open 24 hours per day at Randall Oaks Park starting 0n July 4 and continuing through 3 p.m. on July 7 with a closing ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m. on that day. The memorial is free and open to the public. An opening ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on July 4 at Randall Oaks Park.

The wall is 375 feet in length, stands 7.5 feet high and is designed to travel throughout the United States so that communities can have the chance to honor and pay tribute to Vietnam veterans and their families, according to a news release.
The stop in West Dundee is the only planned stop in the Chicago area for the Wall That Heals this year. Prior to coming to West Dundee, the Wall That Heals was in Bourbonnais, Illinois, and after its stint at Randall Oaks, will be headed out of state to Greenfield, Indiana.
American Legion Post #679 is hosting organization for the Wall That Heals trip to Randall Oaks.
