Police Confirm ID of Crash Victim After Wrong Info Released

Authorities believe Laddie Nudera, 63, of Elgin died of a heart-related event before crashing his car in Elgin.

KANE COUNTY, IL -- Authorities are trying to sort out how incorrect information about the identity of a person killed in a crash in Elgin was released this past week. The victim in the crash, which occurred on McClean Boulevard and Weatherstone Drive at 10:45 a.m. on May 26, was first identified as a 50-year-old man in a statement released by Elgin police and then later identified as Laddie Nudera, 63, of Schaumburg by the coroner's office. Neither of those reports were completely correct, the Daily Herald reports.

On Wednesday, authorities said Nudera was 63 but was from Elgin -- not Schaumburg, according to the article.

Preliminary autopsy results show Nudera died from a heart-related event before the crash, causing the driver to lose control, and also possibly lose consciousness, and crash, according to the coroner's office. Police spokeswoman Kristie Hilton told the Daily Herald Nudera lost control of his vehicle, struck some utility poles and then went back onto the road where he struck a 2o06 Chevy Tahoe.
