Pop-Up Market To Feed Hundreds Saturday In Elgin
Elgin Community College is set to host a pop-up food market for the Northern Illinois Food Bank on Saturday morning.
ELGIN, IL — The Northern Illinois Food Bank is set to pop-up a food market Saturday morning at the Elgin Community College for residents in need of groceries amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the college, 1700 Spartan Dr. The Northern Illinois Food Bank, which supplies more than 900 pantries across 13 counties, is encouraging anyone who needs help getting groceries to show up.
No ID or referrals are required. All events hosted by the Northern Illinois Food Bank use drive-thru distribution.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank is Feeding America's partner in the Kane County area. The food bank can provide $8 worth of groceries for every $1 it receives in donations thanks to its partnerships with food manufacturers and retailers.

The organization hosts about two dozen distribution events every week, while supplying pop-up markets and food pantries across 13 counties. In October, the organization distributed 9.7 million meals, or about 11.6 million pounds of food, to its network of more than 900 partners.
