Democratic U.S. Reps. Lauren Underwood, Bill Foster and Sean Casten spoke outside Aurora's Kenneth M. Christy Post Office on Tuesday to demand Trump reverse his administration’s new changes at the U.S. Post Office.
Trump appointed Louis DeJoy — who was a top donor to his 2016 presidential campaign — as postmaster general in June, in a move that Democrats have said could signal the end of the postal service.

Since his appointment, DeJoy has eliminated overtime for postal employees, ordered the removal of mail-sort machines and reorganized USPS leadership roles, arguing the measures were necessary to make the postal service financially solvent.
Foster said it is “disgraceful that President Trump and his political appointees have been deliberately trying to weaken and delay the USPS in the run-up to the national election.”

DeJoy announced Tuesday that he will suspend many of the new changes until after the Nov. 3 general election “to avoid even the appearance of any impact on election mail.”
