After a Month, Counterfeit Money Returns to Elmhurst: Police
This time, it's fake twenties.
After Elmhurst police received more than a dozen reports of fake money in November, the issue of counterfeit currency has returned to Elmhurst.
Police said a manager at 7-Eleven at 525 Spring Rd. reported Dec. 8 that at 6:30 a.m. that day, someone had tried to buy items from the store using two fake $20 bills. The customer was denied the currency, and the clerk working at the time gave the fake money back to them.
The manager also said she found a fake $20 while balancing the store’s transactions from the past day. She told police that $20 bill had been taken sometime during the day Dec. 6.
