'We Need To Improve': Elmhurst D-205 Leader
The board president responds to criticism about dropping test scores.

ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst school board president on Tuesday responded to criticism about the local district's test scores.
During recent meetings, residents have called for officials to focus on improving the scores.
"We agree," President Kara Caforio said at Tuesday's meeting. "We need to improve."

She pointed to a list of nine meetings over the last year in which the board heard presentations and discussed student performance.
"To say we are not about students is wrong," Caforio said. "We are about students in every single decision, whether it's about making sure a facility is working so our students aren't sitting in water and having to relocate or whether it's making sure we have bus drivers to get kids to school."

Caforio said it is easy to stand up and call for higher test scores.
"It's another thing to say, 'How do we break that down?'" she said. "I'm very grateful for every person coming alongside us. Let's do this together."
