Boyfriend Steals Girlfriend's Phone So She Can't Call the Police After Fight Gets Physical: Elmhurst Police Blotter

Drugs, thefts and burglaries also showed up on this week's latest blotter.

The following items were taken from the Elmhurst police blotter throughout the past week.

Domestic abuse

  • A woman reported to Elmhurst police Jan. 8 that she and her boyfriend got into an argument and that he got physical with her and slapped her, pulled her hair and took away her phone so she couldn’t call the police. After he left the resident in the 100 block of West Church Street for work, she moved her things out of the house and is seeking an order of protection. The incident occurred around 3:30 in the afternoon.

Drugs

  • George Garcia, 39, of Stickney, was arrested after police responded to an alarm call at 877 N. Larch around 8 p.m. Jan. 9. Garcia was found to be wanted on a warrant out of DeKalb County and officers also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession. He was charged with the two former infractions and released after posting bond for his warrant.

Home burglary

  • Officers responded to a burglar alarm in a home in the 300 block of May around 10:24 a.m. Jan. 10 to find a side door of the building had been forced open. After checking the house, police determined it was a burglary. Jewelry was missing.

Theft

  • A resident told police that Oct. 29, 2016, her car had been repossessed and she was at the Ole Auto Sales impound site on Grand Avenue to retrieve it when she found that both her front and back license plates had been stolen, alongside her iPad and two pairs of Rayban sunglasses from the glove compartment. Ole Auto Sales reps told her that no items had been inventoried in the car when they’d received it.
  • Elmhurst residents living in the 400 block of North Addison told police that the afternoon of Jan. 11, they came home expecting three packages to have been delivered, but none were there. When they notified FedEx, reps said the packages had been delivered.
  • A man told police that over his winter break, his sound bar was stolen from his residence in the 200 block of Elm Park. He said his apartment door is always locked and that he suspects his roommate. Building security said they’d noticed the door open during break with no one inside, so they made sure the apartment was empty and closed and locked that door.

Identity theft

  • An Elmhurst resident living in the 100 block of West Virginia told police that in mid-December of last year, he got a letter from his credit card company about a fraudulent purchase made on his card. He had the card cancelled.
  • Another resident, who reported an incident that took place sometime between Dec. 22, 2016 and this week, said she was looking at her bank account when she noticed three checks were cashed to a person she doesn’t know. She notified her bank about the false transactions.
