Elmhurst 'Grandpa' Tries to Lure Girl Into Van After School

The man in a red, window-tinted minivan had a "GRANDPA" sticker on his left rear window.

Following a handful of recent reports of child luring in La Grange Park, the Elmhurst Police have reported a local incident.

A girl, whose name and age were not disclosed by the police, was walking home from school just before 4 p.m. Oct. 14 when a red minivan stopped her at the corner of St. Charles Road and Arlington Avenue, and a man inside asked her if she wanted a ride, police said. The girl said “no,” continued walking and called her mother, who then picked her up, police said.

The girl described the man as being older, maybe in his 60s, and remembered that he had grayish hair. She said the minivan’s windows were tinted and there was an “H” bumper sticker and a “GRANDPA” bumper sticker on his car, both on the left rear window.
