New Year's doesn't have to be grown-ups only. Check out these tips to make New Year's fun for all ages.

If children are joining you for this year’s New Year’s countdown, don’t worry there are plenty of ways to throw a kid-friendly party. Take a look at these five clever ways from The Today Show to incorporate the young ones in all the countdown fun.

  1. Countdown early. Around 6 p.m. have the youngest children ring in 2016 with those who celebrate it first. Include a world map and every time the clock strikes midnight in a different time zones have children cheer for another New Year.
  2. Make a time capsule. Have children write down their favorite memories from 2015 for time capsules. Even adults can join in on the fun.
  3. Set up a popcorn bar. No need for fancy appetizers. Create popcorn bar complete with sweet and savor toppings.
  4. Toast with kiddie cocktails. For the children about to fall asleep, fill up plastic champagne flutes with milk and top them with a cookie. Now everyone gets a New Year’s treat.
  5. Make black-eyed pea pizzas. The age old black-eyed pea tradition makes a surprisingly good pizza topping. Keep children entertained in the final hours by having them make their own small pizzas and push those black-eyed peas.
