Dog Attack, Running Car Stolen: Elmhurst Cops
A woman is attacked by a dog while walking hers, report says.

ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a dog attack, the theft of a running car, a damaged fountain, stolen valuables, a dumpster fire and a false prescription. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Dog attack
- A woman was walking her dog in the 200 block of Yorkfield Avenue about 2 p.m. Friday when a dog broke free and attacked hers. As she attempted to separate the dogs, she and her dog were bitten several times. An officer sent a bite report to DuPage County Animal Control. James T. Sheridan, 42, of Houston, was cited on a charge of having a dog at large.
Unlocked, running car

- An unlocked, running car was stolen about 4:30 p.m. Thursday from the parking lot at Chase Bank, 534 W. St. Charles Road. It was abandoned a short distance away. An investigation is pending.
Fountain knocked over
- The fountain at the Wilder Mansion, 211 Prospect Ave., was knocked over about 10:30 a.m. June 22
Valuables stolen

- A customer at Whole Foods Market, 215 S. Route 83, could not find his phone case, which contained his driver's license, credit cards and cell phone, about 2:30 p.m. Saturday. He then found out a person used his credit card to make fraudulent purchases. After using an app to determine his phone's location, he found it in a garbage can.
Dumpster fire
- Firefighters put out a dumpster fire about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at ATI Physical Therapy, 300 W. Butterfield Road. An investigation is pending.
False prescription
- A person provided a pharmacist with a prescription for promethazine/codeine about 4 p.m. Sunday at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave. After calling the doctor to verify the prescription's authenticity, it was found to be fraudulent. An investigation is pending.
ID theft
- A resident in the 200 block of North Ridgeland Avenue told police that someone fraudulently purchased cell phones using his personal information from Wednesday to Sunday. The suspect also attempted to buy merchandise at an unknown Nordstrom store, but the transaction was declined. The victim will sign a complaint if the suspect is found.
