Elmhurst Hospital Virus Caseload Dips To Single Digits: Stats

The hospital last achieved this feat more than two months ago, records show.

ELMHURST, IL — For the first time in more than two months, Elmhurst Hospital's coronavirus patient count dipped into single digits.

As of Tuesday, the hospital was treating nine people with confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the hospital's daily statistics. The count was last in single digits on March 18. At that point, the number had been dropping below 10 frequently for a month, plunging as low as six on March 4. After March 18, the number started rising, reaching a high of 35 cases on May 4.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the hospital has treated 1,814 patients with confirmed coronavirus cases. A total of 184 patients have died from the virus, according to the hospital. The pace of deaths has slowed considerably, with seven since the beginning of May.

The hospital's largest coronavirus caseload was on Nov. 17, with 84 patients. That was during the second surge of the virus.
