Elmhurst Hosting Pumpkin Recycling Event Following Halloween

Think before you trash!

The City of Elmhurst will be hosting its annual pumpkin recycling event Nov. 5 in an effort to reduce the amount of organic waste that’s sent to landfills every Halloween.

The City and organization SCARCE team up each year to offer pumpkin collection at the Public Works Garage at 985 S. Riverside Dr. in Elmhurst from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Nov. 5.

While all pumpkins are accepted — carved for the holidays or not — residents are asked to remove any lights, candles or plastic decorations from their pumpkins before dropping them off for recycling.
