Elmhurst Man Gets Lucky With $200K Lottery Prize

William Hayes bought the winning ticket Jan. 24.

A lucky Elmhurst resident claimed a $200,000 lottery prize this week after winning the sum in January.

William Hayes, a man who said he plays the lottery once, maybe twice a month, was buying gas Jan. 24 when he bought the ticket, the Chicago Tribune reported.

According to the Daily Herald, Hayes had filled his tank and was heading into a Thorntons in Villa Park when his wife suggested he buy a ticket. He spent $1 on the Lucky Day Lotto Quick Pick.
