Elmhurst Police: Man Allegedly Holds Cousin Hostage, Charged with Domestic Battery

Elmhurst Police detail a call for a man with a gun.

An unidentified man was allegedly held hostage inside a home by his cousin early Tuesday morning, Elmhurst Police said.

The victim told another person around 12:30 a.m. on Monday he was injured and his cousin, Elliot House, 32, was holding him hostage with a gun at a home on the 100 block of E. North Avenue, Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth said.

The third person called police and House later released the victim while holding a large knife around 3:30 a.m., Ruth said.

Investigations reveal there was no gun and the victim was not held against his will, Ruth said.

House was charged with domestic battery and transported to the DuPage County Jail, Ruth said.
