Elmhurst Resident Scared Intruder From Her Home: Police

Another burglary and an attempted burglary also took place at other homes in the area.

ELMHURST, IL — An Elmhurst resident found an intruder inside her home at 1 a.m. Aug. 8 in the 600 block of Howard Avenue.

When the woman shouted at the intruder, he ran away from the home, according to Elmhurst police.

The intruder is described as a white man in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, police reported.

Police believe he entered the home through an unlocked door. They were not able to find the man after a search of the area with a police K-9.

A home in the 700 block of Howard Avenue was also entered, and someone tried to enter a home in the 600 block of Indiana Street, police reported.
