Elmhurst Sees Drop In Virus Rate For 4th Week In Row: County
The city experiences one coronavirus death in the last week.
ELMHURST, IL — For the fourth week in a row, Elmhurst has seen a drop in its percentage hike in coronavirus cases, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, the city had 4,317 cases, an increase of 43 cases from the week before, or a 1 percent hike. The previous week, it was 1.1 percent.
The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst increased by one in the last week, to 67. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.6 percent.

Elmhurst's rate of increase of 1 percent was the same as DuPage County's hike in the last week. Elmhurst makes up 5.2 percent of the county's population and 5.2 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Elmhurst had 92.4 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 79.7 in Darien, 82.6 in La Grange Park, 89.4 in DuPage County, 89.8 in Western Springs, 91.2 in Hinsdale, 97.5 in Clarendon Hills, 99 in suburban Cook County, 102.1 in Burr Ridge and 115.2 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,354,967, up 1.3 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 22,223 state residents.
Nationally, 32.4 million people have caught the virus, up 0.9 percent from the week before. A total of 577,857 people have died from the virus in the United States.
