Elmhurst's Virus Rate Stays Low: County
The number of coronavirus deaths remained the same in the last week.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst saw another low rate of increase in new coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, the city had 4,404 cases, an increase of 10 cases from the week before, or a 0.2 percent hike. The previous week also saw an increase of 0.2 percent.
The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same in the last week, at 68. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.5 percent.

Elmhurst's rate of increase of 0.2 percent was lower than DuPage County's hike of 1.4 percent in the last week. Elmhurst makes up 5.2 percent of the county's population and 5.2 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Elmhurst had 94.2 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 81.5 in Darien, 88.2 in La Grange Park, 91.6 in DuPage County, 93.5 in Hinsdale, 98.8 in Western Springs, 99.9 in Clarendon Hills, 102 in suburban Cook County, 104.2 in Burr Ridge and 120.8 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,387,297, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,050.
Nationally, 33.3 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.3 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 596,971 people have died from the virus in the United States.
