Evan Tyrone Martin to Present Virtual Concert
Baritone Evan Tyrone Martin sings the songs of Nat King Cole and other musical theater favorites
On Sunday, July 11th at 4:00 p.m. Bethel United Church of Christ will present a performance by Chicago-based vocalist Evan Tryone Martin. Appearing with Martin will be pianist and musical director Maestra Andra Velis Simon. The concert is to be live streamed from PianoForte Chicago’s showroom, and will showcase favorite songs popularized by Nat King Cole, as well as some other musical theater gems.
Renowned singer / actor Martin has been seen nationally to rave reviews, including Jesus Christ Superstar (Jesus, Black Theatre Alliance Award nomination), Oklahoma (Ali Hakim), Duke Ellington’s Greatest Hits, I Left My Heart: A Salute to the Music of Tony Bennett (Jeff Award nomination), Dreamgirls (Curtis-Black Theatre Alliance Award nomination), The Little Mermaid (King Triton), The Color Purple (Harpo), and more. Most recently, the velvet-voiced baritone traveled the United States starring in one man shows Unforgettable: Falling in Love with Nat King Cole, and An Unforgettable Nat King Cole Christmas.
