Expressway Near Elmhurst Sees Its 2nd Shooting in 3 Days

No one was reported injured in the incident near Elmhurst Monday.

The Eisenhower Expressway has been getting a lot of attention lately — just days after a shooting on the interstate near Oak Park, shots were heard fired today on Interstate 290 in Elmhurst.

One person was injured and hospitalized in the incident near Oak Park Oct. 28. The shooting took place around 11:50 a.m. in the westbound lanes on I-290.

Monday, police responded to calls of shots fired in the same area, in the eastbound lanes of I-290 at North Ave., the Pioneer Press reported. No injuries have been reported.

"The shooting [Oct. 31] on I-290 at North Avenue remains under investigation," Illinois State Police Sgt. Jason Bradley told the Press. "The shooting last week on I-290 at Harlem also remains under investigation with no additional information available. The shootings do not appear to be related."

Bradley said there have been four expressway shootings in the Chicago area in October alone.
