Scarsella is a substitute teacher for Elmhurst School District 205, according to her Facebook page. She was a teacher at Edison Elementary School last school year. She also was a teacher at Sacred Heart School in Winnetka from 2003 to 2010.

For the Elmhurst Park District, Scarsella worked as an employee teaching in the Kindergarten Kapers program from 2015 to 2019.

In her campaign, Scarsella maintained a website and a Facebook page.

In a post on Patch last month, her husband, Michael Scarsella, said his wife has been a strong supporter of the park district since they moved to Elmhurst in 2010.

"She has seen firsthand the value and joy the park district’s programs and recreation opportunities bring to our community," he said. "Meghan is committed to ensuring community access to our high-quality park facilities, programs, and recreation opportunities while serving as a good steward of taxpayer dollars."

The other winner, Ubriaco, has been a park board member since 2003.

In addition to the winners, the seven-member board is also set to include Vince Spaeth, Mary Kies, Claire Kubiesa and Tim Sheehan.
