Just 5 New Virus Cases In Elmhurst: County

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst saw just five new coronavirus cases in the last week, the lowest weekly number since July, according to statistics from the DuPage County Health Department.

As of Sunday, the city had 4,409 cases, a 0.1 percent hike from the week before. The previous week saw an increase of 0.2 percent.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst stayed the same in the last week, at 68. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.5 percent.

Elmhurst's rate of increase of 0.1 percent was the same as DuPage County's hike of 0.1 percent in the last week. Elmhurst makes up 5.2 percent of the county's population and 5.2 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.

As of Sunday, Elmhurst had 94.3 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 81.7 in Darien, 88.2 in La Grange Park, 91.7 in DuPage County, 93.6 in Hinsdale, 98.9 in Western Springs, 100 in Clarendon Hills, 102.1 in suburban Cook County, 104.4 in Burr Ridge and 120.8 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,388,688, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,133.

Nationally, 33.3 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.2 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 598,713 people have died from the virus in the United States.
