Juvenile Driver Reached 100 mph While Fleeing Police

The boy later turned himself in to police.

ELMHURST, IL — When Elmhurst police tried to pull over a speeding car Aug. 6 at Route 83 and Lake Street, the driver tried to elude the officer and reached speeds faster than 100 mph.

The officer got the car's license plate number and stopped chasing it, according to Elmhurst police.

The driver of the car, a juvenile, later went to the Elmhurst police station to turn himself in.

He was charged with fleeing/eluding a police officer, two counts of speeding, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, following too closely, two counts of failure to signal lane change, disobeying a traffic control device and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, police reported.

He was released on bond.
