Cop Shoots At Driver Who Tried To Hit Him, Suspect Still At Large

An Elmhurst officer fired his weapon during a traffic stop when the suspect drove his car in the direction of the officer.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst Police continue to investigate an incident that occurred Tuesday where an officer fired his weapon and the suspect fled in his vehicle during a traffic stop. Several lanes were closed Tuesday while Elmhurst Police investigated the incident that occurred at York and Crestview Avenue at 4:45 p.m. Northbound York Street at Lake Street and southbound at Grand Avenue had lanes closed due to the investigation.

Police said the officer fired his weapon during the traffic stop when the suspect drove his car in the direction of the officer. As the suspect fled from police, he also crashed into another vehicle. The car was found in Chicago following a pursuit involving several police agencies.

According to police, the officers involved were not injured, and the driver remains at large.
