Lombard Public Works to Inspect 900-Plus Fire Hyrdants in 6 Weeks

Lombard Public Works crews are currently performing their annual fall maintenance on more than 900 area fire hydrants.
The maintenance program is a vital part of the village's water pumping and water distribution system schedule, according to a community update. Crews will be concentrating their efforts on the program's related tasks for the next six weeks or so.
"During hydrant maintenance, each hydrant is thoroughly inspected, oiled and port caps are greased to ensure proper (functionality)," a community alert said. "This process continues to ensure that fire hydrants can be operated by the fire department and village repair crews in a time of need."

Village maintenance crews will be focusing their efforts from Maple Street to Roosevelt Road to also include The Manor Hill and Pinebrook Subdivisions outlined on the map below.
