Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Sexually Assaulting 9-Year-Old Relative

The crimes took place between 2011 and 2015, when the girl told her mother and police got involved.

A man from Addison was sentenced Wednesday to 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting a relative’s daughter, who was 9 at the time.

Alfredo Sedeno, 53, pled guilty in court Wednesday morning before being sentenced to time in the Illinois Department of Corrections, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced in a release.

Sedeno allegedly sexually assaulted the girl periodically from October 2011 through January 2015, at which point the girl told her mother what Sedeno had done and her mom contacted Addison police, who got in touch with the DuPage County Children’s Center.

Sedeno appeared in bond court June 12 of last year and his bond was set at $550,000. He’s remained in custody since, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

“This young victim was forced to endure a terrible sexual assault committed by a family member who was responsible for watching over her while her mother worked,” Berlin said in the release. “But instead of taking care of her, Mr. Sedeno sexually assaulted her just to satisfy his sick sexual desires.”

Berlin lauded the girl for her bravery following the attacks, especially in telling her mother what had happened.

“Thanks to her strength, we were able to build a strong case against Mr. Sedeno, resulting in today’s plea and 18-year sentence,” he said.

Sedeno will have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole. He’s also required to register as a sex offender for life.
