Megyn Kelly, Chicago Cubs and 140 DuPage Republicans Attended Exclusive Lunch in Lombard Monday
The movers and shakers were hosted by real estate chairman and former teacher Daniel Goodwin.
Fox News anchor Megan Kelly and 140 of DuPage's finest were in town Monday for an exclusive, invite-only holiday luncheon hosted by Daniel Goodwin.
Goodwin’s guest list of politicians featured mostly prominent Republicans from DuPage County, Crain’s Chicago Business reported, and it was quite an event. Goodwin himself is a community staple, having been a Chicago Public Schools teacher and now the chairman (and founder) of Inland Real Estate Group in Oak Brook. In the past, his holiday lunch speakers have featured George W. Bush and Bruce Rauner.
The event took place at the Westin in Lombard.

Crain’s reported that Governor-elect Eric Holcomb (R) of Indiana conducted a 40-minute interview with Kelly, who was “careful to the point of blandness.”
She said she thought the media had learned very little during the presidential campaign, that she wishes she could have interviewed presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton during the election and “that Steve Bannon, Trump’s pick for chief strategist, tops her interview list.”

Kelly also noted she hopes “the magnanimous Trump, not the thin-skinned, petty Trump” will be taking the presidential oath in January.
Mass copies of her book she’s currently promoting, “Settle for More,” were available at the luncheon.
Perhaps among the more exciting moments at the afternoon event included selfie ops with World Series Champions Kyle Schwarber, David Ross and Pedro Strop of the Chicago Cubs. The trio spent time taking photos with fans before lunch.
Wayne Messmer, a former Cubs public-address announcer, sang “God Bless America” and “The Star Spangled Banner” on a Christmas tree-, menorah- and American flag-filled stage before lunch started.
The luncheon raised $50,000 for New Directions, Goodwin’s nonprofit that provides affordable housing to those without it, Rodger Brown, the organization’s president, said. However, he noted, the event is really more of a social event than a fundraiser.
