Myrtle Avenue Railroad Crossing Closed To Traffic

The crossing will be closed to both car and pedestrian traffic starting Tuesday, Sept. 11 through Sept. 21.

ELMHURST, IL — The railroad crossing at Myrtle Avenue will be closed as repairs are done, the city said. The Union Pacific Railroad will perform track repairs to improve the crossing, and the Myrtle Avenue crossing will be closed for about 10 business days.

According to the city, the project includes removing a track and rebuilding the crossing. The northernmost rail will be removed; thus, allowing for a smoother transition between the tracks and road. The car crossing will also be rebuilt to improve accessibility across the tracks.

The city said the crossing will be closed to both car and pedestrian traffic starting Tuesday, Sept. 11 through Sept. 21.
