Kevin Flowers, managing director at Pew Pew Guru, LLC tells Patch why they are your resource for Chicago firearm training in this exclusive Patch one-on-one:
Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?
Find out what's happening in Elmhurstfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
Flowers: We have been in business since August of 2018. Our first CCW class in Villa Park, IL at the VFW 2801 will be December 15 and 16.
Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?
Find out what's happening in Elmhurstfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
Flowers: I am a military veteran, I have a wife, four daughters, three sisters and I am my mother’s eldest son, so I have always had to be the protector of the family. It has just naturally been my calling to train and teach.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger, what would you say?
Flowers: Enabling women to not be victims!
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Flowers: Getting people over the stigma of guns.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Flowers: Seeing a woman who has never touched a gun before, at the end of her training feel empowered that she has the skills to protect herself, her family and her home.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Flowers: We distinguish ourselves by being the only company of our kind in the Chicago-land area that markets to women and not at them. I write a blog that instructs, advises and gives insight on all things personal protection, self-defense and home defense. Some examples of articles published are: Why Is It Intimidating To Go Into Gun Shops, Why You Are Vulnerable to Home Invasion, and The 10 Professions that should Concealed Carry— to name a few.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Flowers: Jump and grow wings on the way down.
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?
Flowers: The individualized classes have been super rewarding for me because I devote the time to one person, two or three people, sometimes small groups — and you can really see the improvements, the growth is exponential and you build a relationship in that time.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Flowers: My first training in Villa Park at the VFW will be held December 15 and 16. Lunch is included. The range fee is included. Veterans get a 15 percent discount. We are your resource for Chicago Firearm Training. We also do larger classes in Villa Park, IL at the VFW 2801.
Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about your work and business?
Flowers: Check out my blog, Firearm Training Chicago and visit our website. You can also visit my Facebook page.
