Police Search Waverton Hotel After Finding Footprints, Broken Window

Break-in at Waverton

It appears someone broke in to the abandoned Waverton Hotel, 624 N. York St. A maintenance worker said he was conducting a premise check when he found a broken window on the southwest corner of the building at 8:13 a.m. Dec. 10. Officers and two canines from Rosemont searched the entire building with negative results. It is uncertain whether entry was gained, but fresh footprints could be seen in the snow. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Burglary

A home on the 600 block of West Gladys was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Dec. 10, police said. An unknown offender entered the residence and ransacked a jewelry box, police said.
