2nd Barbecue Place Planned For Elmhurst

Restaurant chain has three other locations in the suburbs.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst is expected to see its second barbecue restaurant this summer.

Firewater BBQ, which has three other locations in the suburbs, is planning to open a local restaurant in July or August, according to the city. Elmhurst's 2021 Restaurant Guide indicates the restaurant will be at 635 W. North Ave., next to Route 83. It is the site of the old Mattress Firm.

Just last week, Chicago-based Smoque BBQ opened at 130 N. York St. It is open at least temporarily, offering both curbside pickup and local delivery.

According to the city's restaurant guide, Smoque BBQ and Firewater BBQ would be the only barbecue restaurants in town. An online search did not reveal any other Elmhurst restaurants whose main specialty is barbecue.

Firewater's other locations are in Geneva, Crest Hill and Lombard.
