Employees get vaccinated a few hours after shipment arrives.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst Hospital employees started getting COVID-19 vaccinations Thursday, a week after the FDA approved the vaccine.
The hospital took video of employees getting information about the vaccinations and receiving shots. According to the hospital, 367 employees were vaccinated at Elmhurst Hospital on Thursday. More employees have requested vaccinations and are set to get them. A spokesman said the vaccinations are not required.
A shipment of 1,950 doses arrived at the hospital before sunrise Thursday morning, a couple of days later than originally expected.

As of Thursday, the hospital has treated 1,115 patients with COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus. Of those, 130 have died with confirmed cases of the disease, according to the hospital.
On Thursday, the hospital was treating 44 patients with COVID-19. That is about a quarter less than a week ago.
