Want to Learn How to Upcycle? Head to West Elm at Oakbrook Center Mall Saturday

National retailer West Elm has caught wind of a La Grange business owner's forward thinking, and they want to get in on the action. 

The "upcycled trash to treasure" movement isn’t a trend. It’s here to stay, and folks are lining up to learn how to use the best tools out there to revive their flea market finds. Nest Vintage Modern owner Alana Waters-Piper is happy to oblige.

Her lessons have been so well-received that West Elm invited her to demonstrate her skills to an audience at Oakbrook Mall Saturday, Nov. 2. Local folks can book a seat on Nest Vintage Modern's website here.

“I can show you how to repair that wobbly old chair and transform it into a showpiece for your home. Go grab a thrift shop piece and let’s brainstorm!”, she said. “I love when folks come in and explain that they’re trying to figure out what to do with a piece. They’ll show me pictures, we talk about their color schemes and styles, I’ll explain some techniques to them, and they’re off to the races, excited to tackle that project. It’s so easy when you know how.”

Nest Vintage Modern opened in May at 26 S. La Grange Road in La Grange. And they're not just about paint. They also provide locally manufactured goods, including jewelry, soaps, candles and fun gifts, and specialize in vintage home decor, furnishings and new giftware, bath and body goods, accessories and jewelry meant to complement the vintage aesthetic.

Nest also sells the complete Old Fashioned Milk Paint line of products and offers furniture painting classes by certified instructors.
