York Volleyball Standout Picks College

Sydney Krueger's 84 total blocks ranked her second in the West Suburban Conference.

ELMHURST, IL — Sydney Krueger, a standout athlete from York High School, has announced her decision to attend Augustana College in Rock Island and continue her volleyball career, according to an Augustana news release. She plans on enrolling this fall and joining coach Kelly Bethke's Viking program.

Krueger, a 6-foot, 1-inch middle blocker, was a two-year varsity letter winner at York for coach Patty Iverson. As a senior, she led the 29-8 Dukes with 30 solo blocks, and her 84 total blocks ranked second in the West Suburban conference, the release said. She had 72 kills while hitting at a .293 rate and added 27 digs, according to Augustana. She was a three-time team captain with Illinois Performance Volleyball.

Krueger is the daughter of Stacy and John Krueger of Elmhurst. She has always been a high honor roll member at York, and she is planning to major in elementary education at Augustana, the release said.
