EVERGREEN PARK, IL — A Chicago man was arrested after multiple downloads of child pornography were tracked to his IP address, prosecutors said. Ronald Koziol, 39, appeared before Cook County Judge John Mahoney on felony charges of possession and dissemination of child pornography.

Around 12:45 a.m. Jan. 31, an Evergreen Park police officer working for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force detected suspected child pornography being downloaded from the eMule file sharing network, the prosecutor said. A total of eight sexually explicit videos depicting children as young as three years old were made under the user name "Duramas," according to the complaint. The prosecutor said the downloads were traced to Koziol’s IP address, a public identification number assigned to all computers connected to the internet or other computer network.

Police executed a search warrant at Koziol’s home Sept. 18 and found more than 100 videos of child pornography on Koziol's computer, the prosecutor said. Police said Koziol admitted to downloading the videos. According to the charges, Koziol told authorities eMule was always running on his computer so that others could share the videos.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Koziol lives with his parents and is employed full time at a grocery store in the meat department. His family could only come up with a $3,000 bond, the attorney said.

"That's not nearly enough," Mahoney said, setting bail at $500,000.
