Convicted Sex Predator Caught Downloading Child Porn Again: Cops
A Chicago Ridge man had 30 sexually explicit images of children under 13 on his phone, prosecutors said.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — A convicted sex predator is accused of downloading of sexually explicit images on to his smartphone. Rogelio (also spelled Regelio) Villarreal, 54, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony charges of possession of child pornography and criminal sexual abuse. Villarreal was convicted in 2003 on a similar charge.
In October 2019, Evergreen Park police received a cyber tip of nine pornographic images of children under 13. Police obtained a search warrant, which produced IP address in Chicago Ridge. The prosecutor said a total of 30 images of young girls bound or engaged in sexual acts were associated with the IP address, which belonged to Villarreal, according to the charges.
Villarreal's last registration was to a Chicago address in July 2019, the prosecutor said. Police determined that Villarreal lives in an apartment that shares a property line with Commissioners Park in Chicago Ridge.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Villarreal is engaged to a woman with two adult daughters.
Villarreal was sentenced to 30 months of sex offender probation in 2003. He was 38 and his victim 12 years old at the time of the offense, according to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry.

Bail was set at $100,000. Villarreal was ordered not to have contact with minors under 18 while his case is pending. He is also prohibited from accessing the Internet and having a phone with Internet access.
Villarreal's next court date is March 26.
