Creep Bothering Young Girl Triggers Community Alert

Evergreen Park police issued a community alert Wednesday after a man with missing teeth kept bothering a young girl walking her dog.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — A man bothering a young girl walking her dog Wednesday afternoon triggered a “suspicious person” emergency alert, police said.

The girl was walking her dog around 5:15 p.m. April 7 in the 3700 block of 98th St. in Evergreen Park. A man walking through the neighborhood asked her several times to help him find an address or let him use her phone.

Police said the girl got scared and ran through the east alley in the 9800 block of Hamlin Avenue to a friend’s house. The man was last seen walking north down the same alley.

The stranger is described as a Hispanic male in his twenties, with short brown hair and missing teeth. He was wearing a maroon sweatshirt and dark pants. Police said the man was not seen in a vehicle.

Anyone with information about a suspicious person or vehicle in the area is asked to call the Evergreen Park Police Department at 708-422-2144. Residents in that area are also asked to check home security video.
