Deck Your House For EP Independence Day Decorating Contest

Enter your red, white and blue decked out house in Evergreen Park's Independence Day home decoration contest. Deadline to enter is June 28.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — In lieu of an Independence Day parade, the Evergreen Park Recreation Department invites residents to deck their homes in red, white and blue for a patriotic home decorating contest.

Residents are encouraged to channel their patriotic and artistic flair and decorate their house and yard to their heart’s content. This can include flags, posters, floral arrangements, a gigantic Uncle Sam or Betsy Ross — the sky is the limit.

Whether you take it with your phone or a digital camera, please shoot it in HORIZONTAL format. That is, with the phone on its side, longways. NOT vertically.

Each of the village’s four quadrants will have two judges (who are members of the community and are not employed by the village.)

There will be one winner in each quadrant, and each will receive a gift card for an Evergreen Park business.

When submitting photos, please include your address in the body of the email so that our judge can take a walk down your street and see the house in all its “live” glory.

In the subject line of the email, please say “Home Decorating Contest – NE” (or, NW, SE, SW, whichever quadrant in which you live.)

You can begin submitting photos whenever you like, but the deadline to submit is Monday, June 28.

The judges will make their final decisions on Wednesday, June 30 and the winners will be notified on Thursday, July 1. Winners will be invited to be recognized at the village board meeting on Monday, July 19, where they will receive their prizes.

All the photos submitted will be worked into a beautiful video photo montage that will run on our website over Fourth of July weekend.
