Driver Tries To Lure Child To White Van With Ladder Rack: Police

Adult intervenes after observing a man call a young girl over to his van on Saturday in Evergreen Park, police said.

EVERGREEN IL — A man asked a young girl to come near his white van late Saturday afternoon, prompting a community text alert. An alert adult saw what was happening and confronted the driver, Evergreen Park police said.

At 5:07 p.m. on March 6, a girl was walking near 92nd Street and Central Park Avenue. Police said a man driving an older white van with a ladder rack on top, stopped and asked the girl to come near the van. An adult saw what was happening and approached the van, when police said he then asked for directions. The van was last seen heading south on Central Park Avenue.

The driver was described as a male Hispanic in his twenties or thirties, with black hair, a thin mustache and wearing a black hat.
