EPBC Players Will Wear Team Shirts Honoring Retiring Mayor Sexton

Evergreen Park Baseball Club youth players will wear commemorative team shirts honoring retiring Mayor Jim Sexton for 2021 season.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Evergreen Park Baseball Club ballplayers will honor retiring Mayor Jim Sexton with a commemorative message on the backs of their team shirts.

After decades of generous support from the local business community, EPBC is not asking for team sponsors in 2021, to give pandemic-impacted local businesses a chance to regain their footing. In place of listing sponsors on the back of team uniforms, uniforms will carry the message, “Thank You, Mayor Sexton.”

EPBC is still seeking sponsors for the 2021 season, but understands that some pandemic-impacted businesses are unable to donate or support the program at past levels. The youth baseball program is offering free advertising and promotion for businesses on its website, through email blasts, Twitter and banners at the park to help local businesses regain their footing. A list will also be compiled and emailed to EPBC's approximately 500-player families encouraging them to shop and dine local.

“It has been great working with them,” EPBC president Brian Harmon said. “We’ve got over 450 players in the league this year.
