EPCHS Freshman Rachel Thomas Wins State Championship

Rachel won the State Championship for mastery of Microsoft software, an honor that will allow her to compete against the best in the nation.

Evergreen Park Community High School is proud to announce that freshman Rachel Thomas has won the State Championship for mastery of Microsoft software, an honor that will allow her to compete against the best in the nation to showcase her skills.

Rachel won 1st Place on the Microsoft Word (Microsoft 365 Apps and Office 2019) exam, which earned her the title of Illinois Champion from Certiport, Inc. This accomplishment now qualifies her to compete against the best in the nation at the MOS U.S. National Championship in Orlando, Florida from June 21-23, 2021. Finalists will then compete in the World Championship round of the competition in August 2021.

“It was so exciting to watch Rachel build her resume and increase her marketability in such a tangible way,” said Business Teacher Beth Spezia. “By passing her Microsoft Office Word certification, Rachel showed proof that she mastered a highly sought after and widely recognized skill set. I am so proud of her accomplishments!”
