EPCHS Illinois State Scholars Honored at 3rd Annual Breakfast
Honorees were commended for their outstanding academic achievement and strong work ethic.

On Tuesday, May 18, thirteen Evergreen Park Community High School seniors and their parents attended the school's 3rd Annual Illinois State Scholar Breakfast. The honorees included Grace Beyer, Heidi Burke, Sean Campbell, Keegan Cassidy, Joshua Gordon, Hope Michalek, Ernesto Mora, Juliet O'Connor, Nellie O'Grady, Connor Tyrrell, Madeline Reynolds, Jake Rickert and Catherine Schulte. They were commended for their outstanding academic achievement and received embroidered sweatshirts proudly displaying the EPCHS Illinois State Scholar status, a Certificate of Achievement from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, and an EPCHS pen.
The top 10% of high school seniors are announced as State Scholars each year. Illinois State Scholars are chosen based on a combination of exemplary ACT or SAT test scores and sixth semester class rank. The 2021-22 designation applies to the year these students will begin their postsecondary education.
"Congratulations to these exceptional students for their academic excellence," said Principal Sanderson. "I am proud of the commitment they have made to their education during these extremely challenging times and thankful for our supportive school community."

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is the state agency committed to helping make college accessible and affordable for Illinois families. This year, EPCHS honorees join the other top students who have been recognized for their academic achievements since the designation was first introduced in 1958.
