EVERGREEN PARK, IL — All Evergreen Park police officers have been in and will maintain a high presence in the area of the village's shopping districts along 95th Street and Western Avenue in preparation for Derek Chavin verdict, which will be read in moments in a Minneapolis courtroom, police said.

Chavin has been on trial for the death of George Floyd, a Black man whose horrific death was captured on viral video from police bodycams and bystanders as the white police officer kept his knee on Floyd's neck for more than nine minutes, according to trial testimony.
