McAuley Will Honor Sophomore Hockey Player Who Won Gold Medal
Mother McAuley plans a golf cart parade for sophomore Abbey Murphy, who won a gold medal with Team USA in Russia.

CHICAGO, IL - Mother McAuley High School doesn't have a hockey team, but the largest all-girls school in the country has a hockey player who has already reached the sport's pinnacle at one level.
Evergreen Park resident Abbey Murphy is only a sophomore, but has ventured to a world many Americans never will. Murphy recently returned from Dmitrov, Russia, where she was a member of the 2018 gold medal-winning United States Under-18 team.
Team USA captured the gold in the 2018 International Ice Hockey Federation Under‐18 Women’s World Championship after wins over Sweden, Russia and Canada. Murphy, a forward, is the youngest player on Team USA. She is also a member of the Chicago Mission Girls 16U hockey team and began her career on a coed team with the local St. Jude Knights hockey club.
