'Spoon River Anthology' Comes To Life At Evergreen Park Candelight Theatre

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Evergreen Park Candlelight Theatre hits the boards with a musical based on Edgar Lee Masters’ classic book, Spoon River Anthology. The show will be performed at the Evergreen Park Senior Center, 9547 S. Homan Ave. Performances are 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, and 3 p.m. Sunday Oct. 1.

A talented local cast of 22 brings Masters’ book of late 19th century, small-town America to life. The book is a series of free-verse poems that are the thoughts and epitaphs of the fictional residents of the town of Spoon River, buried in the town’s cemetery. Through the interconnected stories, the characters offer a glimpse into the lives, loves, sorrows and scandals of a small town.
