EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- It's almost time to sit down with the family and feast on turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. While some people — including employees at some retail stores — will be working on the holiday, many area businesses and offices will be closed, giving workers a day off.

Village of Evergreen Park: Closed for Thanksgiving, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24. Waste Management will complete garbage pickup in the southwest quadrant on Friday.

Cook County Government Offices: Closed
Cook County Circuit Courts: Closed for Thanksgiving, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24

Evergreen Park Schools: Closed
Parochial Elementary and High Schools: Closed

Retailers: National retailers that are expected to open on Thanksgiving include Best Buy, Kohl's, Macy's, Sears, Target and Walmart. Target says it will close at midnight on Thanksgiving, then reopen at 6 a.m. Black Friday morning. Dozens of other retailers are taking a stance against opening on Thanksgiving. Call ahead to make sure.
