$17K In Personal Items Stolen From Unlocked Car: Blotter

A citizen said more than $17,000 in personal belongings were stolen from his unlocked car: Glenview Police Blotter.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. DRIVING WITH A SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Edward P. Flynn, 53, of the 100 block of Golf View Circle, Prospect Heights, is accused of driving with a suspended driver's license, and was arrested at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 29 in the 500 block of Greenwood Road. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and assigned a court date of March 8 in Skokie.

Michelle Huszti, 45, of the 400 block of Bellaire Avenue, Des Plaines, is accused of retail theft, battery, failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle from an incident that occurred in the 1900 block of Tower Drive on Jan. 22, and was arrested at 9:02 p.m. Jan. 29. She was released on a $2,500 bond and assigned a court date of Feb. 19 in Skokie.

INCIDENTS

THEFT BY DECEPTION

A Tanglewood Drive resident reported at 1:38 p.m. Jan. 26 receiving an email from Lifelock stating their accounts had been locked. The resident called the telephone number provided and spoke to a male. The resident purchased two $500 gift cards and provided the male with the gift card numbers before realizing it was a scam. Total reported loss is $1,000.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

A Chester Drive resident called police at 11 a.m. Jan. 27 to report receiving unwanted telephone calls and text messages from a former friend.

THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Lehigh Avenue reported at 10:17 a.m. Jan. 29 selling a product over the telephone. It was later learned the credit card used to make the purchase had been reported stolen. Total reported loss is $274.
  • An employee of a business in the 3100 block of West Lake Avenue called police at 2:56 p.m. Jan. 29 to report that on Jan. 22 a person purchased tires over the phone using a credit card. Immediately after the tires were picked up, the transaction was cancelled. Total loss is $4,800.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

A Dolton resident reported at 3:53 p.m. Jan. 29 someone entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 4600 block of Laurel Avenue. Numerous personal items were stolen. Estimated loss is $17,600.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 800 block of Laramie Avenue reported at 4:53 p.m. Jan. 29 that between 4-4:30 p.m. someone forced entry into the residence through the front door. Nothing was reported stolen at the time of the report.

IDENTITY THEFT

An employee of a business in the 1100 block of Golfview Road called police at 2:56 p.m. Jan. 30 to report someone used their personal information to purchase hardwood flooring from a business in Evanston. Total reported loss is $9,426.40.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 8:24 p.m. Jan. 31 a male stole a bottle of alcohol. Total reported loss is $32.99.
  • The owner of a business in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 5:15 p.m. Feb. 1 saw a female stealing clothing from the store. The female was confronted and the items were returned.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

An employee of a business in the 800 block of Waukegan Road reported at 1:27 p.m. Feb. 1 a customer made threatening statements.
