5-Year-Old Glenview Boy Who Died In Wedding Accident Identified
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the family with services planned Friday and Saturday.
GLENVIEW, IL — A 5-year-old Glenview boy who died as a result of an accident in Oak Brook last week has been identified. Luca Berlingerio passed away Sept. 4 after a granite-topped sofa table fell on his head during a wedding reception at the Drake Hotel. The DuPage County Coroner's Office released the boy's name Thursday.
According to the Chicago Tribune, parents called 911 around 10 p.m. A doctor attending the wedding reception performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but the boy remained unresponsive. He was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators, who reviewed hotel security video, said the boy was lying atop the table when he fell off onto the floor, pulling the heavy table over on top of him.
