ArcLight Cinemas Closes Glenview Theater, National Locations

The Decurion Corporation, parent company of the movie theater chain, announced Tuesday it "does not have a viable way forward."

GLENVIEW, IL — After closing more than a year ago in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the parent company of ArcLight Cinemas is opting not to reopen its Glenview location as well as other movie theaters across the country. The Los Angeles-based Decurion Corporation announced Tuesday all ArcLight Cinemas and Pacific Theatres have closed permanently.

The Decurion Corporation, founded in 1946, employs around 1,300 people at its properties in Illinois, California, Colorado, Hawaii and Maryland, according to its LinkedIn profile.

"This was not the outcome anyone wanted, but despite a huge effort that exhausted all potential options, the company does not have a viable way forward," the company posted on its website for the Glenview location in The Glen Town Center, 1850 Tower Drive.

There is also an ArcLight Cinema location closing on N. Clybourn Avenue in Chicago, effective immediately. The historic Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, owned by the Decurion Corporation, is not reopening.
